San Franciscco Nursery
The expecting parents didn’t know if they were having a boy or a girl, so I wanted to create a neutral space that felt cozy and suitable for either gender. The room was designed so that once the baby made his/her appearance, some more gender specific pieces could be incorporated into the space. The small space also needed to serve as a guest bedroom. We selected a daybed that had additional storage and could also be used as seating.
Instead of using color for added interest, we chose materials that were varied in texture. For example, a cozy ivory shag rug, cable knit pillow covers, a Mongolian fur pillow, a Moroccan leather poof and paper lantern were all selected in white to ivory hues, but their differing textures added visual interest to the space.
